My Crippling Addiction to Memes

Pop culture exists because we as a society have chosen to agree that we generally all have some sort of connection with the matter that is "pop culture." Pop culture ranges from the music we listen to, forms of media and entertainment, and personally my favorite, memes. All of them. Memes are great, as they have basically existed since the beginning of shared knowledge. Today, we usually define a meme as picture, phrase, or trend that is commonly shared amongst individuals, typically having a humorous undertone, and they're essentially unavoidable when surfing the web. As someone who was born in the digital age, memes have greatly influenced my generation's sense of humor, so much so that what we find funny (i.e. "D*mn Daniel!", RIP Harambe, The Bee Movie But..., Doge, etc.) are somewhat inlaid with a sense of hilarious stupidity yet with awareness and dry sarcasm. Personally these are my favorite forms of comedy, so much so that I spend hours on Twitter and 4chan searching for the best memes, and I think it's come to the point where I've become addicted to memes or perhaps even become a meme myself? I find myself repeating memes and sending them to friends, so either I've fully enveloped myself in the meme culture phenomena, or I am the meme.
