The Effectiveness of Persuasive Genre

This is a picture that I saw over spring break on a billboard, a rather simple photo yet it can resemble so much when put in different contexts. in this scenario, the picture was used as a representative to slow down aging, the advertisement stating that you could slow down your aging by going to the company's website lest you want to end up looking old and gray within a handful of decades. Now, clearly this billboard ad wasn't directed towards me, a college freshman who's not even in their 20's, this is most definitely meant for those probably past their 40's or even older. This ad appeals to ethos, tugging at the viewer's fear of looking less youthful, offering them a chance to revitalize themselves, however it's probably too good to be true. This picture is also somewhat misguiding as it shows the aging process as a much more sudden thing than it really is, considering they are depicting a lifetime within a single photo, so it's important to be wary of these tactics used by advertisers. In a somewhat different point of view, you could probably use this photo's idea and perhaps turn it into a movie or propaganda piece about aging too fast and how to stop such process.
