Love is 'on the Air'

Today is Valentine's Day, a holiday which I'm sure most everyone in America is accustomed to. Today is the day where couples give gifts to each other, go on super special dinner dates, and perhaps even propose. However, for those that aren't in a relationship, they may just spend the day with friends, or perhaps cry into a bowl of ice cream while watching a Nicholas Sparks movie. No judgement here, as I have been on both ends of the spectrum myself (The Notebook is a great movie, okay?) and understand what it's like. Since Valentine's Day is such a popular holiday here in the US, companies and TV channels all typically advertise for this day for one reason or another. Whether it's a marathon on Freeform or just a Hershey Kisses ad, media makes its way into the holiday. Some shows typically follow the status quo with Valentine's episodes, but say for example The Office's episode in season 2 sort of toes the line on this theme. On one hand, there's Phyllis who receives bouquet after bouquet of flowers, and even a gigantic teddy bear near the end; then there's Pam, while she doesn't expect her fiancé to get her anything big, she admits to him at the end of the episode that she was hoping for something, by which Roy responds with "get ready for the best sex of your life." So, while fulfilling the needs of the convention, the episode also appeals to the other side of the aisle as well.
